Kodak Play Sport Video Camera Review
Almost all of my recordings are on flat water vs. faster action shots of white water, so I've not analysis fast action shots yet. EIS stands for Electronic Image Stabilization, which Kodak asserts can reduce video blur. I bought this particular model because of the fair price point of $149.00 and the indisputable fact that it makes a plea to be water-resistant down to a depth of ten feet for my use in cruising.
The camera is about the size if an iPhone. I have utilized the camera now for two paddling day trips and I should say in brief I'm extremely impressed. The standard of the video amazing when viewed either on the camera itself, or maybe better from my PC drive. I've also uploaded and viewed the videos to YouTube and my website. The quality is still fantastic seen from both these online sources but have a tendency to be just a bit nervous because of the web connection.
The recorded video may also be viewed be right from the camera to your HDTV, but I have not done that yet, I am concerned to try it however. As well as fantastic video, the microphone with the unit is terribly delicate and again I am impressed with the standard of the sound. I did find that wind did affect the sound if you are outside on a particularly breezy day. The mike does have a gain setting which I've not played with yet to determine if this improves the sound on a windy day. The camera has a setting for glare itself also, but I haven't found a desire to mess with this setting.
I am confident it'll be electrifying. Both down loading the videos and charging the unit is so easy through USB connection. The controls are insignificant and straightforward to work out. There are only five buttons with good graphics for control, but these provide all of the features you want. The center push / tilt button provides almost all of the operating functions required. The instruction manual is only nineteen pages indicating how simple the camera to use. Did I bring up it also takes good still shots? I bought a sixteen GB memory card, and it'll take anywhere up to a 32GB memory card.
There isn't really enough built-in memory to use the camera so you must purchase an additional memory card. I've found the 16GB card very satisfactory for taking a day's worth of videos (turning the camera off and on based totally on the action).
